'Here to hear': R U OK? Day 2023
R U OK?
How do you know if you’re not OK?
Can we be more OK?
Sometimes our level of OKness can have something to do with the degrees of meaning, purpose, and connection in our lives.
When people ask us if we are OK, a response of either yes or no is perfectly acceptable, but a more reflective answer may be helpful to us.
One possible response could be, “I’m feeling……”. Remembering feelings are neither OK or not OK, they just are.
A further step into reflection could be to ponder what it means to feel this way. How does feeling this way place me in my context?
At times it can help to ponder the influences and perceptions in our lives that contribute to how we are feeling and perhaps make some choices about connecting to other influences that may allow different feelings to arise.
A simple reflection at the end of our workday may be helpful.
As I look back over my day I recall:
- A moment of connection
- A moment I can feel grateful for
- A moment when I could have handled something differently
- A return to the gratitude.
I hope U R OK. If not, I hope you can tell someone.
