Tyson Cottrill

Internal Communications Business Partner

Born and raised in Newcastle, Tyson Cottrill joins Newcastle Anglican with 20 years experience in communications as a journalist. He began his career at NBN News in Newcastle before being appointed to the Nine Network, working in newsrooms in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. In 2015 Tyson returned home where he became a familiar face presenting the 6pm News and also served as NBN's chief court reporter.

Outside of work, you'll usually find him enjoying coffee at one of his favourite Newcastle cafés, or relaxing with a true crime show or a nature doco!

Jessica Smith

Occupational Therapist

Hi! I'm Jessica, and I'm excited to be joining the Anglican Care team as an Occupational Therapist. I'm passionate about helping people maintain their independence and supporting them to continue doing the things that matter most to them.

Outside of work, I love spending time at the beach with my dog, exploring the beaches around Newcastle, finding new camping spots, keeping active, and catching up with family and friends. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and getting to know the team!

Jessica Maris

Behaviour Support Practitioner

Hi! My name is Jess. I'm a BSP & Accredited Social Worker.

I've been working in various roles across the community service sector for 6 years. I have come to the Samaritans from a direct social work and counselling practice, where I specialised in trauma and mental health.

I'm also currently working on my PhD, which centers the strength and resilience of Aboriginal women.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, getting outdoors and making the most of the sunshine.
